Health Literacy For All
The iCAN Cornerstone of Youth Empowerment

"The Leadership Curriculum has provided Youth Council members with the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and put them into practice. It has been incredibly inspiring to watch members grow in confidence and apply their leadership skills within the organization. Through engaging discussions, reflections, and activities, members have explored their strengths, challenge themselves, and develop into impactful leaders."
Ella, Youth Council Co-Chair

A New Kind
of Curriculum
iCAN's redesigned curriculum explores key aspects of healthcare in an age-appropriate, age-specific fashion. It is a free, engaging learning experience that encourages understanding in healthcare, creativity, and STEAM in ages 8 - 18. Tailored to self and small group learning, the iCAN curriculum explores topics typically overlooked by the brick and mortar education system such as "Understanding Clinical Trials","Careers in Research", and "Becoming a Leader."

Completing each lesson ensures that youth spark passion and develop core skills in the healthcare space. Each module includes real-world examples and engaging activities designed to enrich parent and kid knowledge alike.

Our Kids are the Experts

At iCAN, we firmly believe that kids are experts in their own conditions and that their voices are integral to the betterment of healthcare. As such, a robust understanding of health literacy is paramount to the empowerment of our kids. The iCAN Curriculum is developed with our youth in mind, but also with them directly. By involving our youth in this integral step of co-creation, the Curriculum is engaging and fun for all! As youth use the iCAN Curriculum, they will receive certificates of achievement showing their progress and effort.
