Non-Discrimination Policy

At the International Children’s Advisory Network (iCAN), we are committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all participants, regardless of their background or identity. iCAN does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind.

We strictly prohibit discrimination in membership, participation, employment, programming, partnerships, and all other organizational activities on the basis of,  but not limited to, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, age, disability, health condition, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, genetic information, marital status, family structure, or socioeconomic status.

We believe that diversity strengthens our mission to amplify the voices of children and families in healthcare, research, and innovation. Every individual, whether a child, caregiver, professional, or volunteer, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Our Commitment

  • Ensure equal access and participation in all iCAN programs, events, and activities.

  • Promote a culture of belonging where every participant feels valued, heard, and safe.

  • Provide reasonable accommodations to support accessibility needs.

  • Take immediate and appropriate action in response to any reports of discrimination, harassment, or exclusionary behavior.

  • Encourage continuous learning and awareness around inclusivity and cultural competence within our global community.

Reporting and Accountability

Anyone who experiences or witnesses discrimination or harassment during an iCAN activity is encouraged to report it to iCAN leadership (via contactus@icanresearch.org or through a local chapter lead). All reports will be treated seriously and addressed promptly, with confidentiality and respect for all parties involved.
