Interactions ensure that the design of clinical trials via feedback on pre-clinical trial research and development materials with the iCAN Network are family-friendly and age appropriate.
iCAN insights on pediatric patient-facing products, like brochures, characters, assent documents, means that the right questions are being asked, and iCAN youth and caregivers travel to share their stories, impacting FDA town-halls, industry assemblies, and global stages. Through out all of these projects (as well as internal development), iCAN utilizes the iCAN Feedback Loop and Roadmap.
Partnership with pediatric patients via iCAN drives positive impact in pediatric healthcare across the world. iCAN does this, in part, through projects (which we call interactions) with clinicians, researchers, innovators, and industry and regulatory leaders including Biomotum, Pfizer, Eli Lilly, Fortrea, Empath Labs, the FDA and more!

Created in 2018, the course brings together families, researchers, patients, and health professionals together to work collaboratively with the goal of learning from each other about meaningful partnership in healthcare research. The course guides each student through first hand testimonials and best practices for engaging with patient advisors and bringing a novel approach to what it means to work with other healthcare leaders in this context.

About the Tool:

The class was centered around building out a tool for guiding or highlighting patient-partnership. Our group's project delves deeper into actionable steps of patient-centric co-creation. Our group's “Knowledge Tool” or project “Closing the Feedback Loop: A Roadmap for Youth Engagement”, standardizes the evolution of a project, breaking down what is often a complex undertaking into a method that is adaptable for any type of co-creation. Simply put, our project is a roadmap to facilitate engagement with youth and young people via a universal feedback cycle. It expands the steps of the iCAN Feedback Loop (which is a framework that focuses on incorporating the youth and family voice in co-creation) by detailing actionable steps to incorporate open streams of communication at every stage of a project process. The iCAN feedback loop was developing in 2014 and is used by the iCAN Network to guide industry-pediatric interactions as well as internal projects.
